About Us
The purpose of the Krewe organization is to celebrate the Mardi Gras season together as family and friends and to promote traditional Cajun family involvement in Mardi Gras. In February of 2006, a small group of family members talked about starting a Mardi Gras Krewe. By November, they had a few meetings and elected Board Members.
Krewe members have been parading together for several years and the membership comprised of families and friends from the SW Louisiana area, with members from Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The founding members wanted this to be a Mardi Gras Krewe that would follow traditional Cajun Mardi Gras celebrations in a fun and respectable manner, so that tradition can be taught and handed down to our children. Our main costume attire is from the Cajun Mardi Gras tradition of the high pointed conical hats or "capuchons" that parody the headress of noble ladies and that are also associated with dunces; and masks with animal features, often with hair or fur. During our Mardi Gras parades we gather about dawn to assemble to hear instuctions from Le Capitaine and load up on our float and begin our run. The excitment and enthusiasim of Mardi Gras is obvious.
